My name is Grant Grotelueschen. I was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Due to my father’s career in the Air Force, I spent my childhood moving around the world. Being from Colorado fostered a love of skiing, hiking, and spending time outdoors. I completed my undergraduate degree in Applied Health Science at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. While working a summer job in Pennsylvania, I met my amazing wife, Reilly, who is from the greater Pittsburgh area. After graduating, I spent a year working at a retirement community and was exposed to the field of podiatry. I was drawn to the wide variety of pathology and ability to improve patient’s lives.
I completed my medical education at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago, Illinois. Throughout my time there, I was honored to receive multiple scholarships and awards. Additionally, I served on class council and worked as a tutor for several courses. I was also selected to the Pi Delta National Honor Society. I first learned about West Penn from a professor who is an alumnus of the program and knew that I wanted to complete a fourth-year clerkship there.
When I got to West Penn, I was attracted to the high surgical volume, outstanding educational opportunities, and the program’s long-standing reputation of creating excellent foot and ankle surgeons. I am excited to learn under the guidance and leadership of the West Penn attendings. It is a privilege to complete my residency training at West Penn Hospital.
