Scott Alter, DPM Memorial Lectures are FREE for Alumni, Fellows, Residents and Students. Sponsored by West Penn Hospital Foot & Ankle Residency Program as well as our generous sponsors.

Intent & Objectives

Attendees will develop a comprehensive understanding of “state-of-the-art” principles and techniques of foot and ankle surgery. Attendees will understand principles of managing complications and limb-salvage.

Attendees will understand the use and application of emerging techniques involving orthobiologics, arthroscopy, endoscopy, total ankle replacement, intramedullary fixation, external fixation, and cartilage replacement.

Attendees will understand new concepts and techniques utilized in the management of complex diabetic lower extremity problems such as Charcot, ankle fractures, osteomyelitis and significant soft tissue deficits.

Attendees will understand the management of foot and ankle trauma including ankle fractures, calcaneal fractures, forefoot fractures, ankle sprains and osteochondral lesions of the talus.

Who should attend?

Foot & Ankle Surgeons, Podiatrists, Orthopedic Surgeons and other health care providers involved in the clinical and surgical management of the foot and ankle.

How many CME credits are available?
Each 4-hour course offers 4 CME credit hours. The Council on Podiatric Medical Education has recognized the Western Pennsylvania Hospital as an authorized provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. This activity has been approved by the Western Pennsylvania Hospital for a total of four continuing education contact hours.
Are lectures virtual or in person?

All Scott Alter, DPM Lectures are held virtually via the Zoom platform. 

What is the cancellation policy?

You must inform Debbie Hoffman if you are unable to attend the lecture for which you registered. To receive a full refund, please submit your cancellation request via email to [email protected] at least 15 days prior to the lecture. A cancellation fee of $10 will apply.

When can I expect a CME certificate?

You will receive your CME certificate via email from Debbie Hoffman (Residency Program Coordinator) within a week following the lecture. Please contact Debbie if you do not receive your certificate.
