BIO

My name is Maddy Burandt. I am from Mankato, Minnesota. I completed my undergraduate education at Minnesota State University Mankato in biomedical sciences. I also played collegiate soccer for Minnesota State. My interest in podiatry took off after shadowing a close family friend and seeing the wide range of pathology in the field.

I completed my medical education at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. During my time at DMU, I placed heavy emphasis on academics and research. My academic efforts paid off with my induction into Pi Delta Honor Society, being awarded multiple scholarships and the privilege of presenting two posters at the DMU Research Symposium. I will be forever grateful to Des Moines University for providing me with a strong academic background.

I completed my 4^th year core clerkship rotation at West Penn Hospital. The high surgical volume, strong academics, and outstanding leadership and teaching qualities of the attendings let me know that this was the place for me. I am excited to begin my residency training in Foot and Ankle Surgery at West Penn Hospital.
